Barnwell Baptist Church joins the World's LightRGBMacmillan1jpegBiggest Coffee Morning in Aid of MacMillan Cancer

This is the fourth year we have joined in this national campaign and it was by far our best yet. There was a steady stream of people and it was really good to see young and old enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of chocolate brownie, lemon drizzle cake or a fruit scone. There was a constant buzz which was really good to hear. We raised £214.04 which is a fantastic achievement - our thanks to all.
We also had some new things going on this year: -

It was great to be able to welcome the Cambridge United squad who dropped in on their way to training to lend their support. Our thanks to Martin Ling and the lads for taking the time to support the work of MacMillan. Some players expressed an interest in staying put and drining coffee and eating cake, but they did all leave for training in the end!

Later in the morning we welcomed the school choir from Fen Ditton Community Primary School who entertained with a selection of songs and the recorders also joined in with a couple of numbers.
Family and Friends of the children also came along to lend their support, which was fantastic - our thanks to the Head Liz Bassett for organising the group.

Also this year, folk had the opportunity to have their nails done, courtesy of Faye's Beauty Room on Dudley Road - check out Faye's web site www.fayesbeautyroom.com
Our thanks to Faye for giving up her time to lend her support to Macmillan and our coffee morning.

Rest assured we are already thinking of next year and we plan to be back bigger and better - any ideas, then do get in touch.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our coffee morning, and special mentions to Party Days for their help with our balloons, Alison Brock for the cakes and scones, and all who helped set up, clear up and wash up, not forgetting Doreen and Rosemary for their unstinting work in making Tea's and Coffee's for everyone.
